Maramag Market in Bukidnon dubbed as the cleanest public market in the Philippines

Have you ever been in a public market before? Most of the wet and dry markets in the Philippines are notorious for being dirty and located close to squalor conditions. Because of this, many people dread going to the markets. If you’re one of those people, let the Maramag market in Bukidnon convince you otherwise.

This might be the cleanest public market in the entire country. Welcome to the Maramag market–which is currently going viral for its cleanliness. When you first step inside, you would think that you’re inside a mall. The towering white pillars and glimmering tiles can even pass off as hotel flooring!

These photos were shared by traveler Kyle Jennerman, more popularly known as “Becoming Filipino.” This free-spirited soul pledged to discover the secrets of every corner in the Philippines, which led him to spend some time in Maramag, Bukidnon.

After exploring the place, what amazed Jennerman the most was not just Bukidnon’s breathtaking sceneries, but its clean public market. Unlike most sweltering markets, the Maramag market is well-ventilated and each of the stalls has their own posted sign.

The comfort rooms were so clean that even the white tiles show no sign of dirt whatsoever. Even the market floors are so spick and span that anyone could sleep on the floor if they were allowed!

This is thanks to the efforts of the maintenance crew and the shoppers who practice self-discipline while browsing the market. Little things help maintain the market’s near-pristine appearance – such as keeping one’s small piece of trash and throwing junk in designated garbage bins. If everyone just contributes and do their part, every public market in the Philippines can be as clean as the Maramag market.
