In 2014, Youtuber Coby Persin set up a social experiment in an attempt to find out how many people would stand up for a homeless person whose alms were being stolen by random strangers. Coby, along with his team “Model Pranksters,” began the video by asking:
“What would you do if you saw a homeless person getting robbed right in front of your face?”
The social experimenter staged the prank with the help of a group of men and a woman who disguised themselves as the robbers while one of them pretended as the homeless person.
The first part of the experiment began with the woman who repeatedly stole from the homeless impersonator for an hour, but only one man stepped up to defend the homeless guy and to stop her from her misdeed. Others just stared and smirked at what she did, probably in disbelief that a woman could do such a heartless thing.
Coby and the girl expressed their disappointment over the result of the first video. The Youtuber was quoted saying:
“We’ve been out here for over an hour and only one person confronted her about stealing the money.”
However, the result of the second video was far different as there was immediate actions made towards each of the actors’ attempts to rob the money of the homeless person. Most of them were even called out aloud and made an effort to catch them before they escaped.

The video ended with a lesson, saying:
“[There’s] no definition of what a thief looks like. If you see something, say something.”
